Federigo Severini in 1960

The life of Federigo Severini (1888-1962), the 20th century painter from the city of Pisa, whose works were the expression of his boundless love of nature, was commemorated in a retrospective exhibition held at the Italian Institute of Culture in Brussels, from 18th September until 12th October 2007. The exhibition was organised by the Institute and sponsored by the Regione Toscana, the Provincia di Pisa and the Comune di Pisa.

The Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Pisa is organising a new exhibition
"Federigo Severini: paintings and architecture",
hosted at Palazzo Blu in Pisa from 11 to 29 March 2009.

Federigo Severini
(1888 - 1962)

Federigo Severini was born in Pisa and took to painting from childhood, producing his first works at the age of only ten. He painted uninterruptedly throughout his lifetime whilst still finding time to qualify as a civil engineer and university professor, contributing to many prestigious buildings, including the Palazzo della Provincia, the Palazzo delle Poste, the Faculty of Engineering and several university clinics in Pisa, the Villa Puccini and Villa Jacomelli in Viareggio. Painting, however, remained the love of his life. His favourite subjects were, apart from the city of Pisa itself and portraits, Bocca d’Arno, Marina di Pisa and San Rossore.
